Whispers From Immanuel’s Heart

Vineyard is committed to transmitting our values, even as they are expressed differently in another culture. For instance, Partnering with the Holy Spirit will always be a priority. “The Vineyard story is driven by the reality that God eagerly desires us to experience His presence, and then to partner with Him in His work of showing His love to the world.” Another key value is Experiencing and Worshipping God. “God is eager to be known and experienced by all. We believe that God is searching for lost humanity in order to draw us into intimate relationship with Himself. In response to God’s initiative, we value the life-changing power of the experience of His presence.” [Quotes from Vineyard USA Core Values & Beliefs booklet]

One of our missions leaders shares a story of how these values are being expressed in their focus nation.

Four of us returned safely from Central Asia – we were from two U.K. Vineyards and one U.S. Vineyard. The trip was excellent, and we had some wonderful time connecting with friends old and new. Our focus was to give Immanuel Approach training for the whole team and some guests, and we then did Immanuel sessions for nearly 20 people – both the Western team and locals.

Jesus brought some lovely healing, and revealed himself to M* who felt Jesus sitting next to him with his hand on his arm. One of the team members had a picture of Jesus standing in front of him but with his back turned – he eventually realized that Jesus was giving him a piggyback ride! That ride released the tension and worry he was feeling.

We were impacted by the love and welcome we received, by the beauty of the country, the incredible poverty; and were amazed at the resilience of the team who had to endure visa problems, water and electricity cuts, no basic medical care, and so much more.
