China/Taiwan

About this partnership

Our vision is planting and helping churches in cities that have a million people. Our mission is to share Kingdom-focused materials to Chinese Christian leaders.

We have translated 27 Vineyard Bible Institute courses, the entire School of Kingdom Ministry curriculum, and other practical courses/workshops into Mandarin Chinese. We have offered a significant amount of training in both countries. Our focus in China/Taiwan has been primarily developing leaders. We are deeply involved with significant groups that are very large in size. They love Vineyard training materials and find our style to be helpful in growing their leaders into mature disciples. We are in the process of launching School of Kingdom Ministry in China and Taiwan.

About China

Since the early 1990s, China has increased its global outreach and participation in international organizations. China has moved from a closed, centrally planned system to a more market-oriented one that plays a major global role - in 2010 China became the world's largest exporter. China is the world's largest single emitter of carbon dioxide from the burning of fossil fuels; water shortages, particularly in the north; water pollution from untreated wastes.

About Taiwan

In 1949, 2 million Nationalists fled to Taiwan and established a government using the 1947 constitution drawn up for all of China. Taiwan underwent its first peaceful transfer of power from the Nationalist to the Democratic Progressive Party. Throughout this period, the island prospered and became one of East Asia's economic "Tigers." The dominant political issues continue to be management of sensitive relations between Taiwan and China - specifically the question of Taiwan's eventual status - as well as domestic priorities for economic reform and growth. This heavy dependence on exports exposes the economy to fluctuations in world demand. Taiwan's diplomatic isolation, low birth rate, and rapidly aging population are other major long-term challenges.

Yu-Yu's first trip to China was in 2006. God has opened doors for her and her husband, Fon, in developing contacts throughout these two countries in the past nine years. She speaks the language well, understands the culture, and is well liked by the church leaders there.

Happy, Senior Leader of The Vineyard Church of Central Illinois, saw the opportunity to impact China in 2005. With Yu-Yu’s help, they have created a vision, network, and plan to impact the nation. It is exciting to see how the Spirit is blowing on the partnership.
