CROSS-CULTURAL OVERVIEWWe live in an amazing time. We are bombarded by change - radical change. We encounter images, sounds, textures and tastes that we could not have imagined even ten or fifteen years ago. How we respond to this phenomenon tell us something about ourselves and about how we have assimilated into our own cultural milieu. Culture is a complex phenomenon – what one person has called “the collective programming of the mind” (Hofstede) because it is so difficult for us to isolate our culture from who we are; it is us. When we come to be missional people and seek to serve people in other nations, people groups or cultures it takes even greater wisdom, insight and awareness to be effective. Vineyard Missions is seeking to strengthen its leaders to meet this challenge by offering a number of different learning opportunities to increase cross-cultural intelligence and to develop cross-cultural competencies. We hope you will participate with us when we offer teaching and training opportunities, web-based and live.
